About the Artist
Ali Hutchison is an artist working in 2 and 3 dimensions from her studio in Dorset.
Working with acrylic and oil paints and modelling in clay and wax with the ultimate vision of cast bronze or bronze resin, she describes herself as a 'colour-junkie' who pursues light and form in all her mediums. Recently collaboration with the Dorset printer Art2Card has given her range of work a broader appeal and more accessible price points.
She graduated from the then Leeds College of Art with an MA (distinction) in Creative Practice in 2017 after a practical and academic enquiry into whether sprituality can be embedded in art. This gave exhibiting opportunities in church and Minster settings in several English counties, most notably:
TheJesus Doors: fourteen stations of the cross painted on domestic doors and shown in Manchester, Yorkshire, Cheshire and Essex in 2016
Three bronze mobius sculptures, each with one edge and one plane but a triangular cross-section, so truly three-in-one to represent the Holy Trinity, and installed at RHS Tatton Park Flower Show in 2017, where the first woman bishop, The Right Revd Libby Lane explained their theology to passers-by
Reclaimed prison and vestry doors painted with the expulsion from Eden from the book of Genesis, and the homecoming scene from the Prodigal Son Parable from the Gospel of Luke, as part of a two-part exhibition called 'Crossings' in Southwell Minster over four months in 2018.
A double sided reredos altar backdrop with two sides hung in St Ann's Church in Central Manchester for several months in 2018 and again over the Easter period in St James' Church in 2019, with an additional four huge canvases for Lent

Then came a house move from Cheshire to Dorset, Lockdown and Breast Cancer - but she's back with more vigour than before and just as much vibrant colour!

Ali is available for pet or other commissions. She has successfully raised one puppy who is now a working Guide Dog, in a delightful twist of fate to a partially sighted artist in Devon. A passionate Guide Dogs supporter and now a GD puppy short-term boarder, Ali donates a percentage of each dog greetings card sale to Guide Dogs.
